WHAT IT IS

The blower motor is the part responsible for moving air inside the cabin. When you increase the fan speed from the dashboard controls, the system sends power to this motor and tells it to spin faster.

As it spins, the motor pulls air into the ventilation system, pushes it through the Cabin Filters section, then forces that air across the A/C evaporator for cooling or across the heater core for warm air. Without the blower motor, the A/C system may still be cold, but very little air will reach the cabin.

HOW IT WORKS

The Nissens 87812 works with a blower resistor or electronic control module to adjust speed based on the driver’s selected fan setting. On automatic climate control systems, the control module may vary fan speed automatically to help maintain the selected cabin temperature.

This is why blower motor faults can show up in different ways. Some vehicles may lose all fan operation, while others may only work on certain speed settings or produce weak airflow even when the fan is set high.

WHY IT MATTERS

In Jamaica’s heat, weak cabin airflow quickly becomes a real comfort issue. Even if the A/C compressor, gas level, and evaporator are working properly, the cabin will still feel hot if the blower motor cannot move enough air through the vents.

Common signs of a failing blower motor include weak airflow, no air from the vents, fan speed cutting in and out, unusual noise from behind the dashboard, or a fan that only works on selected speeds. If the motor is drawing too much current, it may also place stress on the resistor, control module, wiring, or fuse.
